FO: Handkerchief hem skirt

DSCN2428 I spent a good chunk of last week knitting this on my machine, it drapes beautifully. I hope to debut it on Wednesday at the club. I also knitted two shawls which might become a poncho or another skirt, I haven't decided yet... I've been doing a lot of dressmaking lately as carpal tunnel has scuppered my handknitting :(

FO: Lucy cardigan

DSCN2300

After spending over 4 hours fringing this, I finished this on Thursday night, would've worn it earlier but it wasn't dry. The yarn (Patons wool blend aran) was rather rough when knitted, but softened up a treat. My new favourite cardigan. Literally had just enough to finish the fringe, and luckily I accidentally bought an extra ball of the wine coloured yarn because I needed it.

FO: Autumn Sweater

DSCN2290

This was knitted at T7 on the midgauge knitting machine, King Cole Twist Aran, a yarn I picked up at the NEC in 2015 (suspect it might be discontinued). Garter stitch bands and lace hearts worked by hand on the machine. I need to either get a garter bar, or knit that bit by hand next time. It was very tedious! There are bits where the yarn was less marled and more a plain colour, hence single colour stripes, which was a bit annoying. I have quite a bit of this left to knit up. Debating whether to add fringe to the hem and neck - it was the original plan, but perhaps it's too much?

FO: Star Wars gloves

DSCN2252

Finished these on the 31st for my nephew's birthday. They were going to be Batman gloves but I decided Star Wars was easier as it's fairisle not intarsia. Thumbs a little long and top ribbing could have been deeper as it's curling a little, but overall a lovely pattern! Found on Ravelry :) He seemed quite pleased - well, as much as you can get communication out of a teenager! :)

This is the year of destash, finish up, tidy up and dejunk the knitting room so that I can decorate it. To that end, there's some stash for sale on Ravelry (I'm steelbreeze). So far nobody's biting at 1p per gramme so I'm going to say "Offers, please!". Postage prices don't help though! :S

Happy New Year!

Belated happy New Year! IMG_20160113_075325 More garter stitch gloves - this pair for my niece L, who loved them! She wanted blue, but I didn't have enough blue DK.. B, the nephew, thinks he's too old for such things... I bet he'd like them if they had a Batman theme though! Will be organising a few workshops this year, watch this space!

Happy New Year

The group is still very alive and well, we are just bad at keeping the blog up to date. Ok, very bad!

Hoping to run a sock making night very soon. As with all our workshops,  they're optional and free unless they require specific materials for which there might be a small charge.

Wishing all of our members a happy New Year - here's to a knitty, crochety, crafty 2016!

Welcome!

For anyone who hasn't been before, we're a collection of knitters and crocheters of all ages, and we love meeting new people and passing on our skills. If you've always wanted to learn to knit or crochet, or if you want to progress your skills, do pop by! We meet in a pub - it's a rather old building, partly an old butchers, so the lighting isn't great in winter- so light-coloured yarn is best. We meet 7-9pm every Wednesday night, in the Whitefriars pub in Gosford St. Those of us who drive, park in the nearby Gosford St carpark, which is 50p all evening after 6pm. We tend to meet in the right hand room if there's space, because in winter there's a real fire in there. But if you can't find us, ask at the bar. Look forward to meeting you!
