Hello!

Yes, we're still meeting every Weds at the Golden Cross, 7-9pm - I just don't remember to post to the blog very often. See a recent make - three attempts to get a half-decent neck and I'm done! :) IMG_20180920_161859

And another, this was done on a machine: IMG_20180911_174824

Lots of ends to weave in but fun colours! Come along and say hi!

The Town Wall Tavern was fine, but too busy as it was full of the pre-theatre crowd. Next venues are as follows:

1/2/17 The Golden Cross (Hay Lane)
8/2/17 The Flying Standard (Trinity Street)
15/2/17 The Town Crier (Corporation Street)

As always, drop me a line or call me on the mobile if you are not sure.

Happy New Year!

Belated happy New Year! IMG_20160113_075325 More garter stitch gloves - this pair for my niece L, who loved them! She wanted blue, but I didn't have enough blue DK.. B, the nephew, thinks he's too old for such things... I bet he'd like them if they had a Batman theme though! Will be organising a few workshops this year, watch this space!

Double knitting

After the successful double knitting workshop, I decided to make a piano scarf. This was the first attempt: IMG_20140626_174440 I later decided the one-stitch border looked messy, so this is what's currently on the needles: IMG_20140626_194729 IMG_20140626_194746 Although it's already further than this - I already have almost an octave! :)

Garter stitch and weaving

Linda has been working away on this - it is based on a pattern from Franklin Habit, and it's garter stitch in stripes and then woven threads over the top. It's really cool!

Double knitting workshop

Owing to work-related matters outside my control, I'm going to be over in Holland on and off for the next two months, so we had to bring the double knitting workshop forward a week. Of course, I could only find two small balls of DK, and they were both a very similar colour. Linda's is a lot more distinct that mine - it's probably best to practice this with two distinct colours. The diamond pattern is from Superstar Knitting (Debbie Stoller).
There's a how-to video here - the result is reversible and looks like stocking stitch on both sides.

This isn't a difficult knit. There are just rather a lot of stitches! I did make the largest size, mind you.

Coventry Knitathon

Come along and help us break a world record.

Can't make it? You can donate instead.

I have received details of a Coventry Knitathon which you may want to take part in. There is an attempt to break a sponsored Guinness World record by getting 1,000 knitters together to knit for 15 minutes. This is ad of Comic relief and takes place at 5.45pm on Thursday 17 March, 2011 at Coventry Cathedral.

Apparently, the current record stands at 937 people.

Fancy dress and red noses are optional and those participating are asked to donate or raise £5.

Pompom mania!

csm01

csm02

We've been asked to make a Christmassy banner for the bar of the Britannia Hotel. It's going to consist of a large knitted tube, made on the circular sock machine, and lots of pompoms. I've a bag of about 26 at home now. I think Dee went over the edge - I fully expect to see a pompom handbag in her possession any day now!

Everybody made at least one pompom or did something towards it - I spent the night rewinding yarn for the CSM mostly. Many thanks to all who helped - you are stars!

Hopefully next week it will start to take shape.

Worldwide Knit in Public day, June 12th 2010

We decided to meet for a pot-luck picnic, and the weather was kind to us! There was lots of lovely food - especially Mary's cookies and Julie's brownies - and an impromptu archery session! There was also a hilarious discussion about how to juice a frog, and I have no idea how we got onto that subject.

If anyone's got any more photos, please feel free to add them to this post! :)

Godiva Festival 2009

godiva09

Spent two days in a tent in a park in Coventry, promoting the Coventry Knit-Wits. Many thanks to Linda and Dawn for keeping me company and supplying snacks and chocolate digestives! Weather was beautiful for once.

Did the first cuff of Blusa Queen, and started the second, but spent yesterday on a secret knitting project which has stalled today because I've mislaid some yarn. Fingers crossed I didn't waste a day's knitting!

Two-colour slipstitch workshop

Results of tonight's two-colour slip stitch workshop. If you are eagle-eyed, you should be able to spot the machine-knitted sample. Apologies for the poor quality pics, best my mobile can do!
